Rules and Regulations
I. Who Can Participate:
Any woman of Bhutanese origin (regardless of her place of birth) between the ages of 17 and 28, inclusive (on December 31st of the year she participates), never married and never having had a child, is eligible to participate.
2. Contestant Regulations:
MPC Bhutan Entertainment (MPC) is not responsible for the contestant or any of her personal belongings. The MPC is only responsible for room arid hoard for the contestant.
The contestants must behave in a manner befitting the title of Miss Bhutan.
3. Regional/Dzongkhag Contests:
Since there were no contestants from several dzongkhags, MPC Bhutan Entertainment will not hold contest at the regional or dzongkhag level this year.
We hope that in 2009, there will be 100 percent participation from all the 20 dzongkhags so that every young women in the country get an opportunity to participate in the Miss Bhutan Pageant who will represent their own dzongkhags as (for e.g. Miss Bumthang, Miss Thimphu etc.).
4. The Contest:
The MPC bhutan entertainment, in its sole discretion, retains the right to alter the format of the pageant. The winner of Miss Bhutan will be the only delegate of Bhutan at the Worldwide Pageant.
5. Judges:
MPC Bhutan entertainment will invite celebrities from the international community as judges for the Miss Bhutan Pageant.
Bhutanese judges will be selected by the Pageant Committee (PC). They will be eminent, respected members of the Bhutanese community. The PC reserves the right to appoint all such judges. The decision of the judges, once tabulated, is Final. PC bears no responsibility for the decisions of the judges.
6. The Contestant warrants and undertakes
a) To conduct herself properly during the period from her arrival in Thimphu up to her time of departure after Miss Bhutan 2008 contest.
b) Willing to obey and comply at all times during the period of the contest and not otherwise leave the hotel (without permission from the director/host organizer /chaperon).
c) Not to accept private engagements during the period of the contest.
d) To allow and permit the director to use or take photographs of the contestant for the purpose of publicity and promotion of the contest.
e) To appear on television, radio, film, fashion shows or print media for purposes of publicity and promotion of the contest
f) To co-operate at all times and on all activities during the period of the contest.
7. Special Provisions
a) If the contestant does not comply with the above rules, the director has the rights to withdraw the contestant as one of the candidates and/or winners. In such event, she will leave voluntarily immediately.
b) All contestants must submit to the Organization a Letter of Consent signed by their parents or guardians.
8. Winner and Runner-ups of Miss Bhutan 2008
a) Shall not at any time thereafter commercially exploit her title in any way whatsoever except exclusively through and by sole agreement with the Promoter/Host Organizer.
b) To conduct herself with decorum during the year of the reign and not to commit any act of an immoral, illegal or other similar nature in the opinion of the Promoter will bring the contestant, Miss Bhutan its title into disrepute, ridicule contempt.
c) After the crowning, she is obligated to enter into an exclusive contract with Miss Bhutan Organization to carry out engagements of personal appearances, modeling, film and advertising endorsements.
9. The promoter undertakes to the Contestant
a) That she will be provided with suitable hotel accommodation and meals during the entire duration of the contest. Meals are to be taken at a designated function room of the hotel or any hosted functions. Any other expenses incurred such as room service, telephone calls, faxes, cables, alcohol or liquor beverages will be to the personal account of the contestant.
b) To provide a chaperon for contestant for the entire period of the contest.
c) To provide transportation to all contestants to fulfill the contestant’s itinerary and schedules.
d) To control, advice, assist, supervise and direct the contestant as to her conduct and well being during the contest.
