Objectives
Miss Bhutan Beauty Pageant is founded in the year 2008 by Bhutanese filmmaker Karma Tshering under the banner of MPC bhutan entertainment. The pageant aims to provide the young Bhutanese women the same kind of opportunities as their counterparts in other parts of the world including education, travel and cross-cultural experiences. Young Bhutanese women deserve the chance to be seen as part of their traditional culture and also beyond their culture, as contemporary, modern young women.
Because many people admire and aspire to be a beauty queen, we believed that beauty queens would be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes. International beauty contests draw millions of viewers all over the world. To have representation in events like these, will also create an awareness about Bhutan, as an independent and the only Mahayana Buddhist Kingdom in the world that live by the unique principal of Gross National Happiness (GNH).
Bhutanese girls are like girls everywhere; they need role models of women who have grown into skilled, educated, articulate productive members of society. At the present time, the role models for women are strong, but few. There is always the need for more women who to emerge as role models for the younger generation, as spokes people for their culture. And there is a need for these women to represent a variety of professions, attitudes, skills and interests.
Miss Bhutan Pageant will help find and create job opportunities to the finalists. Since Miss Bhutan Pageant will be an annual event, we feel that it is important to guide and assist the contestants not only during the course but also thereafter.
The winners of MISS BHUTAN will take part in the Worldwide pageant.
It takes a lot of courage to go on stage and be judged by people on skills they think should count for a specific title. Beauty is definitely not the only ingredient to success. One’s personality and attitude all reflect on the ramp. Training and grooming can help a great deal with the correction of ones grooming, etiquette, attitude, poise, projection and communication. The skills taught by the professionals will not only help contestants prepare adequately for Miss Bhutan Pageant but will also be a valuable tool in their general life and the business environments too. The goal here is not just about winning a crown for Bhutan, but gifting a journey for the individual to pave way for her aspirations. The contestants will also have the opportunity to attend lectures and talks by important Resource Speakers from various government organizations, international and private sector.
